So, do you ever find yourself saying yes to something – not because you really want to do that thing – but more so so you can tell the story later? Our first story today, as told by me is about my tendency to do that very thing… say yes so I can tell the story later!
Our second story is about what happens when you try to record a sister who has said yes too many time to vodka and now cannot stay on the track of the story I’m trying to tell her, but it derails in a pretty funny and wonderful way, so we’re including it here today. Lastly, Kari shares a story about what can happen when you meet some new friends on vacation and say yes and the places you can end up when you do. We have a very special show for you today… this is a sneak peek from next month, when our shows will be all about spooky encounters, unexplained mysteries, scary ghosts, communication from beyond the grave, haunted houses and other haunted places, psychic phenomenon and more. If you love all that stuff as much as we do, make sure you’re listening in October! Today’s story, which we’re calling Who do the voodoo? Is told by our sister Kari and takes place in about 1986-87. It’s told in three parts and has all the elements of a good old fashioned who done it? Except in this case, what is done is voodoo! -Join us on Facebook! bit.ly/FacebookHITH -Buy us a cookie or two! bit.ly/ko-fiHITH -Thanks to our Storytellers: Kim A. Flodin, with editing help from Kari Flodin We have a really special show about someone who was a really special person. Today, we’re going to talk about my friend and former boss, Adrienne Weinstein. She’s not with us anymore, but she left an indelible mark on my life during the 16 years we worked together. She and Faye, who was my employee, were my “Jewish mothers’ and man, did we have some funny adventures. Think of us as Lucy, Ethel and Ethel and you never knew which one of us was going to be Lucy, but a lot of the time, it was Adrienne. Sadly, we lost Adrienne in 2005 and yesterday would have been her 79th birthday. Today’s show is dedicated to her and is all about her, with stories and memories from my other Jewish mother, Faye and Adrienne’s son’s Chad and Josh. A special thank you to Adrienne’s sons, Chad and Josh for joining us this week to share memories of their mom. Dr. Chad Weinstein is hardly the underachiever he claims to be. He is founder and president of Ethical Leaders in Action, and you can find his excellent book, “Thinking Aloud: Reflections on Ethical Leadership” on Amazon! And Josh, also known as J. Elvis Weinstein has been a stand up comedy star since he was a teenager! Maybe you’ve heard hispodcast, Thought Spiral. You can also catch his documentary, “I need You to Kill” on Amazon Prime and find his latest comedy album “Chunks” on Amazon and be sure to follow him on Twitter! Other episodes referenced: Monkey Dog, Pig Pony, Monkey Hostage - February 7, 2019 Roundabout , Dick Whistle, Freebird - April 25, 2019 The Fart Heard Around the World, Tased & Confused, In Trouble with the Law, Again - March 21, 2019
This week's show is a little different, we talk about a sad subject... losing a pet. And, in true How in the Hell did I Get Here fashion, we also share some funny, sweet and poignant stories about Daisy the telepathic cat, Rex the wonder wiener dog, and everybody's favorite... Bentley, the blind (and freaking) naughty beagle. If you love pets and have lost pets, you won't want to miss this one.

Famous people can come from anywhere but when you come from Minnesota, you’re very aware that you come from not only the land of 10,000 lakes, but also the land of the funkiest rock star the world has ever seen, also known as Prince, this episode is both a tribute and a memorial to him… he left us too soon ...on April 21st, 2016 and his birthday is June 7th. We have a special episode today featuring two stories about Prince and you’ll be happy to hear that one of our favorite guests, Shanti Hendricks is back and here to tell one of them. If you don’t know Shanti, she was recently featured on two episodes of our show, where she shared her crazy, behind-the-scene stories of her time as a Fear Factor contestant. Be sure to listen to those two episodes, which aired early April 2019, after you finish this episode.
