In these times of quarantine and social and physical distancing and all that’s going on, I’m not going to lie, it’s been tough for myself and I’m sure for anyone who can’t be with the people they love most when a loved one passes. In our case, this is what happened when Crazy Larry also known as Dad, died last month on March 25. There’s been no funeral, no way to get together, other than on Zoom, no way to sit in a crowd and share funny stories and sing and listen to his favorite songs, no way to gather together at all and, frankly, it sucks.
If you’ve heard any of these stories before now, you know that Crazy Larry earned his name for a reason…we also called him Yosemite Sam and as much as we loved him and put up with him… he was a complicated person and a loose cannon… you just never knew who you were going to get with him, which kept us all on our toes. Since today would have been Crazy Larry’s 80th birthday and in honor of him, we’ve pulled together this collection of stories for your listening enjoyment. - Join us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/groups/howinthehelldidIgethere/ - Follow us on Instagram @kimaflodin or @howinthehellpodcast - Share your love for the show with financial support! https://buymeacoffee/thecoloringbookcoach - Subscribe to my other podcast: How to Fall in Love with Yourself TOOLKIT - Thank you YouTube Free Music Audio Library & Silent Partner for our theme song, 7th Floor Tango and ad music, Blue Skies https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCht8qITGkBvXKsR1Byln-wA

It’s been quite a week, right? We’ve got quarantines and Covid19 and working from home and it almost feels like we’re waking up in a different world every day. The day I recorded this intro, Wednesday March 25, 2020, I did wake up to a different world when I woke to the news that the man we call Dad, Crazy Larry or Yosemite Sam had died at home during the night. He had not been well for a long time and this wasn’t exactly unexpected, but it also wasn’t exactly expected either. Ironically today’s show was going to be a continuation of last week’s episode which was called Yosemite Sam’s Daughters Don’t Take No Guff. Enjoy some more about Crazy Larry, plus a story from Erin's husband Van about his son, Genius Boy #3. And RIP Dad, you had a helluva run. - Find your FREE 14-Day Writing Challenge and support our Sponsor when you visit the Happy Self Publisher https://happyselfpublisher.com - Join us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/groups/howinthehelldidIgethere/ - Follow us on Instagram @kimaflodin or @howinthehellpodcast - Share your love for the show with financial support! https://buymeacoffee/thecoloringbookcoach - Subscribe to my other podcasts: How to Fall in Love with Yourself TOOLKIT & Tell Me Your Secret - Thank you YouTube Free Music Audio Library & Silent Partner for our theme song, 7th Floor Tango and ad music, Blue Skies https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCht8qITGkBvXKsR1Byln-wA
Welcome back to week two of wedding stories… this week we find our friend Lynz, Wedding DJ to the non-stars, hard at work at another fun wedding dance, when he something happens that is the nightmare of all great Wedding Djs, but of course he handles it! And, then Tammy is back with the tale of the crazy Ex Girlfriend. Plus, we’ve got some cute and short wedding anecdotes you don't want to miss.
Before we get going I just want to say thank you to our first Coffee.com patron who bought myself and my sisters a week of virtual coffee just to say thank you for making the show! It was so fun to wake up and find that message in my inbox! Ko-Fi.com is a really cool website where you can basically buy virtual cups of coffee as a way to say thanks to some of your favorite creators… like us! We love Coffee! The real kind and the website Coffee.com, so if you want a cool way to say thanks and help support the show, buy us a cup or two!
Quick note: Today’s episode includes swearing. And we apologize for the uneven sound quality this week… we had some technical difficulties.
We might not have been the most conventional family on the block... One of the things that happens in our family is a chronic under-reaction to crazy things that most people would most likely have somewhat of a bigger reaction to.. like, say, a gunshot wound, otherwise known as a GSW. In our family, we hardly bat an eye because it’s just one more crazy thing, right? Especially if no one dies or is seriously injured – maybe its because we come from such a large family – 7 kids, so there’s more possibility of crazy things happening more often OR maybe it’s because we’ve all become used to dealing with the man we call Crazy Larry, also known as our dad. Enjoy today’s episode featuring my sister Jenny – it’s all one story that we’re calling Pregnant Cat, Gunshot Wound, Christmas Present. This is Kim A. Flodin and Welcome to How in the Hell Did I Get Here? (Side note: It turns out the BB that came out of our brother Matt was put there by our brother, Kris… so Crazy Larry is off the hook on that one.) If you have a How in the Hell Did I Get Here story and would like the chance to be featured as a call-in story teller, give us a call right now at 323-488-3303 and leave us your story! That’s 323-488-3303 Today’s show was produced by Kim A. Flodin and features Jenny Gardner and Kari Flodin One more thing, I wanted to give a shout out to my friend, Nicole Rivera...if you’re a writer or want to be, check out her podcast Stop Writing Alone to find community and inspiration.
